Top tips to speed up the recovery process:
Feeling like you are coming down with something? Like a flue, cold or feeling feverish? Not to worry here are some tops tips to get you back to full capacity sooner rather than later.
Boil 2 Eggs – But here’s the trick only eat the boiled yolk, why you may ask, because the yolk of an egg when boiled contains vitamins that can help ward of sickness, as well as using the protein to repair aching muscles. Vitamin B, and D can be found in boiled egg yolks, and you know Vitamin D is a sure way to build your immune system. Vitamin B boosts the body’s defence system and keeps energy levels up. Boiled Egg Yolk also contains a great level or Iron. Especially good for when you have a cold, flu, or even a fever.
Stay Hydrated – Yep put that sugar drink down, we don’t include them in getting hydrated, Illnesses feed of sugar so its important not to consume sugar when coming down with an illness or already ill. Instead drink plenty of water, at least 3–4 liters a day, and grab yourself some herbal teas. Lemon, Green, Ginger, Turmeric are great options. Having heat go down your throat kills bacteria that may be spreading the virus to other parts on the body. While ill don’t go 20 minutes without a bit of fluid.
Fruit of life – Now yes, I did mention no sugar but unrefined sugar that comes from fruit is different. How? Because the fiber in fruit slows down your metabolism and expands your gut and cleanses it too. While refined sugar causes insulin and blood sugar levels to rise which is the last thing you need while you’re are ill with the flu or a cold. Remember fruit is Fructose not glucose big difference. Ooo I forgot to mentioned Banana!
Steam Steam Steam - Nope not in a spa but at home, boil good old fashion water in a pot, add lemon skin, orange skin, Hibiscus Oil, touch of fresh chilly (cut up), ginger, and a drop of Lavender. Once the water has boiled get a towel or cloth large enough and cover your head. Breath in the steam for at least 5-10 minutes in through your noise, out through your mouth. You may cough this is normal. The idea of this is to bring up any mucus congesting your airways, and chest. Don’t swallow that mucus either hold that mucus in your mouth or have a place to get rid off it then straight back to steaming. If you didn’t know illnesses feed of mucus so clearing this will help speed up your recovery process. If you feel congested or like you’re coming down with something, be proactive and do a steam.
Protein- healthy protein like Spinach, beans no not Heinze, if you’re a meat eater try chicken, turkey, or fish as well. Protein repairs and heals its as simple as that.
Wrap up – Sweat it out, or just add double padding, even while sleeping wear a little extra to sweat while you sleep. Sweat is part of the body’s cooling system. Wrapping up and taking steam baths will help release toxins.
Good ol spicy food – spicy food clears airways and help you do a number two, the more you wee and you know what while sick the better your chances of flushing that sickness down the loo.
Rest rest rest – sometimes getting ill is a sign that we need rest. It could also be a sign that we need to look at our diets. Listen to your body don’t ignore the signs, prevention is better than cure.
